Christmas Letter 2007

     Dear Family and Friends,              12/22/07

From snowflakes on last year’s letter, to palm trees this year, it has been a year of change for our family. We received the news last year that they wanted us to go to Haiti to help with the Construction Department of MEBSH, and we have been on the go ever since.
January, February, and March, we were very busy with preliminary preparations to be ready to move.  We hoped to be able to rent our house while we were gone to help out on the financial end of things, so it was a lot of work to go through everything and either sell it, give it away, or throw it away.  We did store some things in a couple of rooms in the basement of our house, but we got rid of a lot.
On March 22, (Kristin’s birthday), Faith Nicole was born. She surprised us all because she was a couple of weeks early and by far my longest labor, (16 ½ hours).  The problem was that my mom, (Rhoda), was in Gulf Shores when labor started and I guess Faith just wanted to start out on the right foot with her grandma, so she waited until Grandma Meister arrived at the hospital before she made her appearance.  After that we had 2 months to take care of getting Faith’s birth certificate and passport and wrapping everything up before we were ready to leave in May.
We had not rented our house yet, but really felt that God had a plan, and the weekend before we moved, a very nice, young couple, (Arwen & Jeff), came to see the house and made the decision to rent it.  We are very thankful for them and know that God was and is at work in this situation.
On May 21, we loaded up the suitcases, (all 12 of them), and all of the carry-ons, (6 of these), and headed for the airport. We were quite a sight, but thankfully, we, along with all of our luggage, arrived safely here to our new home in Les Cayes, Haiti.  Many of you know that at this point, we started writing news and information about our family and life here in Haiti on our web site, so I will skip the details. If any of you have not seen our website, the address is:
www.reinhardconnection.com . We also have a direct update list if you are interested in receiving updates by e-mail from us. Just send us your e-mail address at treinhard@juno.com and we will add you to the list.
We enjoyed the summer here and thankfully the heat wasn’t too bad this year.  Now we are in the middle of the work team season and it is a busy, but enjoyable, time of year. We especially enjoyed having our home town Peoria team here and then the extra special blessing of having Kristin, Rodney, their daughter Ava, and my mom down for a week’s visit earlier this month. It meant so much to see them again and to share a little of our life, first hand, with them while they were here.
I know there is much more I could write about and we have seen God moving in so many ways here, but we will save the rest for the web.  The main thing to share is the Good News of Christ’s coming to earth so many years ago, but affecting so many lives today.  We wish each of you a very Merry Christmas and a Blessed New Year.

Our love,
Tim & Joan & Family
