October 24, was the arrival date for the Steve and Joyce Thorson team. This team consisted of Steve and Joyce, their daughter Sheven, Mallory Albertson, Scott & Sherri Benedetti, Kelley Frengle, and Brad Russell. This team was blessed to have been given a gift of $6,000.00 from the Northwest Christian Community Foundation given through OutBack Steel Buildings Giving Fund to help the needy Haitian people of Labiche, Haiti with a roof on their church and a set of 10 church benches. An additional 10 benches will be given to the small church of Ramye Azile. Labiche is a remote village in the mountains with very poor roads, but beautiful views. We were very thankful for a safe arrival, good weather, and efficient workers. We got a lot done on Saturday and then spent the day Sunday in worship and visiting some of the homes of those in the area who were experiencing extra difficulties. At one home, we sang some hymns to a lady, who just a few hours later, took her last breath here on earth. We had a good workday on Monday and finished up the roof and benches by the end of the day. This left some time in the week for an afternoon visit to the church at Lacoline where Steve and Joyce have some good friends from their years with the RMI Sister Church program. We also spend some time touring around the Les Cayes area and part of a day at the beach at Port Salut.
